Music Workshops and Programs

In addition to music lessons I also offer classes and workshops for local institutions/community centers such as senior centers, adult day care, nursing homes, and assisted living facilities in the state of Rhode Island. Programs are designed to meet the needs of specific individuals or groups and are based off of an individualized lesson plan developed following the first session.

I have experience working with children with cerebral palsy, Asperger's syndrome, and ADHD as well as adults who suffer from disoreders related to stroke, emphysema, Parkinson's Disease, and Alzheimer's Disease. Programs include singing, breathing exercises, vocalizing, light exercise and may also include the use of bells, drums and rhythm instruments when available. Current locations I offer programs are Smithfield Senior Center, Scandinavian Home Assisted Living, and St. Elizabeth Court Assisted Living. I also am a choral director with experience starting and maintaining a senior-based choir.

My fee for these programs are flexible, but range between $35 to $50 per one hour session.

Disclaimer: Although my programs can be sometimes described as therapeutic, and are designed to promote socialization, communication skills, personal enjoyment, and other benefits, I am not currently a board certified Music Therapist (although this is a long term goal). My experience in program facilitation comes from my work at Cranston Adult Day Services as the Activity Director as well as having taught classes to adults through Westerly Community Education and Enrichment and The Learning Connection. I also have other healthcare experience as a Certified Nursing Assistant. If you are looking specifically for a music therapist, check out the American Music Therapy Association website at http://www.musictherapy.org/.
